Today, SVK slate in South Shields is one of the most popular roofing materials around. Many traditional roofs in the UK use natural slate as the primary roofing material. Slate is a lightweight, yet robust material made from metamorphic rock. It consists of clay and volcanic ash. Slate’s thermal resistance and waterproof characteristics make slate roofing ideal for extreme weather variations. However, natural slate can be an expensive choice. While it offers fabulous properties and benefits, its cost can be disillusioning. This is when SVK slate is a great alternative! For more details about the benefits of SVK slate, be sure to speak to us at North East Roofing Supplies.
The high demand for slate roofing in Europe puts pressure on the availability and pricing of natural slate in the market. Interestingly, in South Shields, SVK Slate is made from fibre cement. SVK is one of a few companies that have successfully enhanced the performance and viability of slate as a roofing material in modern applications. Instead of fully relying on natural slate, SVK has modified and improved slate, making new modern variations of the traditional roofing material. Using SVK slate saves time since roofers don’t need to sort the slate in colour, size or shape before each project. The company produces homogenous slate panels suitable for various applications. As a result of SVK slate’s versatility, builders and architects have more design freedom and flexibility.
